Nepali Literacy Class
The Nepali Literacy Class is designed to help children, youth, and adults strengthen their connection to the Nepali language and culture. As more of our younger generation grows up speaking mostly English, many families are experiencing a widening communication gap with parents and grandparents who speak only Nepali. This program directly addresses that challenge.
Students learn practical, everyday Nepali they can use at home and in the community—greeting elders, holding simple conversations, understanding cultural traditions, and participating confidently in family and religious events. They also learn to read and write using the Nepali (Devanagari) script, build vocabulary, and understand the cultural meaning behind common phrases and expressions.
Our instructors use interactive, engaging methods such as stories, songs, role-play, and conversation practice to make learning enjoyable for all ages. The goal is not just language skills but stronger family bonds, deeper cultural identity, and the ability for our next generation to stay connected to their heritage while thriving in a bilingual world.
